Brunswick CSD Announces the Top 10 Percent for the Class of 2017

This honor signifies that these students have achieved academic excellence during their years at Tamarac High School. Congratulations to all of them for their hard work and commitment to academics!

 

Sarah GibbsSarah Gibbs

Sarah is the daughter of Bill and Ellen Gibbs of Cropseyville. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Sarah has been the recipient of the Ron Geuther Science Award, Advanced Placement Environmental Science Award, US Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award, The Madame Villa French Language Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence and the Northeastern Raise Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, Sarah has been a member of concert band/jazz band, President of Yearbook, National Honor Society, and Varsity basketball, soccer and track teams. She was named as the Wasaren League Scholar Athlete. Sarah has served as the president for the Class of 2017 during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Outside of school she works at Pet Supplies Plus.

In the fall, Sarah is attending Northeastern University to study Environmental Science.

Alida Scecchitano

Alida is the daughter of Sal Scecchitano and Deb Lawrence of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Alida has been the recipient of the The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Boston College Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of National Honor Society, band, Key Club, Varsity volleyball and softball teams. Outside of school she works at Breuegger’s Bagels.

In the fall, Alida is attending Boston College.

 

Caitlyn Roden

Caitlyn is the daughter of Rick and Angel Roden of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Caitlyn has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, National School Choral Award, Cheryl Wainwright Foster Scholarship, Advanced Biology Award and SUNY Brockport Honors Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of National Honor Society, band, Choralaires, Key Club, Varsity volleyball and co-captain of the track team. Outside of school she works at Brunswick Barbeque & Brew.

In the fall, Caitlyn is attending SUNY Brockport.

Bryan StockwellBryan Stockwell

Bryan is the son of Tim Stockwell of Pittstown. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Bryan has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, The Joyce Peckham Memorial Award, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Brittonkill Friends of Music Award, Navy Music Achievement Award and the SCCC Freshman Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, Bryan excels in music – writing, singing, instrumental band and jazz band. He has been a member Masterminds, Vice President of the Science Club and made a soundtrack for a school movie. Outside of school he plays piano at his church.

In the fall, Bryan is attending Schenectady Community College to study Music.

Camille GardnerCamille Gardner

Camille is the daughter of Michael and Dawn Gardner of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Camille has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Class of 2007 Award, The Michael Labanowski Award and the University of Florida’s Douglas Turner Grant Award. Camille is also enrolled as a student in the New Visions Medical Program.  In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of National Honor Society, Olympics of the Visual Arts Club, Key Club, Varsity soccer and track teams. Outside of school she volunteers at 4H and works at Troy Country Club.

In the fall, Camille is attending the University of Florida to study Mechanical Engineering.

Natalie SchecchitanoNatalie Scecchitano

Natalie is the daughter of Sal Scecchitano and Deb Lawrence of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Natalie has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, The Adele C. Eger Scholarship, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Brittonkill Teachers’ Association Award, Houghton College President’s Scholarship and College Grant. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, chorus and Varsity track and field. Outside of school she works at Subway.

In the fall, Natalie is attending Houghton College to study Inclusive Childhood Education.

Emily LaPlanteEmily LaPlante

Emily is the daughter of Keith LaPlante and Abby Atkins of Pittstown. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Emily has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Booster Club Award, Blue Shield Scholar Award and the Springfield College Trustee Scholarship. Emily is also enrolled as a student in the New Visions Medical Program.  In addition to excelling in academics, she is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club Secretary Class Council and Captain of the Varsity track and cross country teams. Outside of school she is a junior coach for a club track team and is a certified track & field official.

In the fall, Emily is attending Springfield College to study Athletic Training.

Gaetana BaldwinGaetana Baldwin

Gaetana is the daughter of Jim and Christie Baldwin of Cropseyville. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Gaetana has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, The Lois Duprau Memorial Scholarship, The Board of Education Award in Recognition of Service to School, Advanced Biology Award, the Russell Sage College Trustee Award and Legacy Award. Gaetana is also enrolled as a student in the New Visions Medical Program. In addition to excelling in academics, she is a member of National Honor Society, serves as the Board of Education Student Representative and Student Senate President. When she is not at school, she enjoys ballet dancing and volunteering at her church.

In the fall, Gaetana will attend Russell Sage College to study Applied Biology/Pre-Med.

Aaron RoddyAaron Roddy

Aaron is the son Jack and Pam Roddy of Brunswick. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Aaron has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Office of the Comptroller Achievement Award and Class of 2017 Award. In addition to excelling in academics, he is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Class Council, yearbook, band, Varsity wrestling. Outside of school he has volunteered for the Capital Roots Veggie Mobile and works at the Hilton Albany.

In the fall, Aaron will attend SUNY Geneseo to study Communications.

Grace WarringtonGrace Warrington

Grace is the daughter of Gary and Pat Warrington of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Grace has been a recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Triumph Yearbook Award, Navy Award for Sports Achievement, Elmer A. Grogan Scholarship Award, Class of 2017 Award and the University of Rhode Island Centennial Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, she is a member of band, yearbook, prom committee, Varsity soccer and captain of the softball team. She has served as senior class president.

In the fall, Grace will attend the University of Rhode Island and will major in Health Studies.
