Brunswick CSD Announces the Top 10 Percent for the Class of 2018

Brunswick Central School District is proud to announce the students in the top ten percent for the Class of 2018. This honor signifies that these students have achieved academic excellence during their years at Tamarac High School. Congratulations to all of them for their hard work and commitment to academics!

Andrew BakkerAndrew Bakker

Andrew is the son of Elaine Spiak and Cornelis Bakker of the town of Brunswick. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Andrew has been the recipient of the Advanced Placement Environmental Science Award, Elmer A. Grogan Scholarship, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Clarkson Leadership Award, two-Silver Medal in Olympiada of Spoken Russian and the winner of the VFW, Voice of Democracy Essay. In addition to excelling in academics, Andrew has been a member of Masterminds and a top scorer for the team for multiple years, a member of Student Senate, National Honor Society and the track and field team.

In the fall, Andrew is attending Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences to study the Doctorate of Pharmacy program.

Christioher CaiazzaChristopher Caiazza

Christopher is the son of Kelly and Rudy Caiazza Sr. of the town of Brunswick. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Christopher has been a recipient of the Ron Geuther Science Award, The Business Education Department Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, PTSA Citizenship Award, Clarkson Award for outstanding leadership and placed 4th on the Business Entrepreneur test and fifth on the Economics test at SUNY Adirondack Business event. Christopher has been a member of National Honor Society and the track and field team.

In the fall, Christopher will attend the Honors Scholar Math and Science program at Hudson Valley Community College.

Kora FortunKora Fortun

Kora is the daughter of Michael and Kim Fortun of Pittstown. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Kora has been a recipient of the Harvard Book Award, Advanced Biology Award, The daVinci Award, The Board of Education Award in Recognition of Service to School, John Phillip Sousa Band Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Class of 2009 Award, Class of 2018 Award and named to Area All-County and All State Band. In addition to excelling in academics, Kora is a talented musician, playing piano, percussion instruments and composes music. She has been President of Band, a member of Jazz Band and Steel Drum Band as well as accompanied chorus. Kora has been a member and coach of Odyssey of the Mind, Class Council Vice President and a member of Olympics of Visual Arts, Masterminds, National Honor Society and the JV soccer team.

In the fall, Kora will attend the University of California, Santa Cruz to study Mathematics and Linguistics.

Emma FountainEmma Fountain

Emma is the daughter Mark Fountain and Tami Seaman of the town of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Emma has been a recipient of the Rensselaer Medal, Society of Woman Engineers Award, Advanced Biology Award, Rachel Murray Community Service Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Class of 2018 Award. Emma is also enrolled as a student in the New Visions STEM Program. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of Masterminds, Science Club, Steel Drum Band, Chorus, Olympics of the Visual Arts, National Honor Society, treasurer of French Club, as well as secretary of 4H Teen Ambassador, and a cast member in both high school musicals.

In the fall, Emma will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute to study Biomedical Engineering.

Hailey Hansen

Hailey is the daughter Craig and Pauline Hansen of Raymertown. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.

Hailey has been the recipient of the 2016 State Archives Student Research Award, the daVinci Award, Cheryl Wainwright Foster Scholarship, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Athletic Scholarship Award and Sage College of Albany Trustee Excellence Award. Hailey is also enrolled in the New Visions Visual Arts Program. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of the Choralaires, Student Senate, Olympics of the Visual Arts, National Honor Society, as well as the Track team and Varsity Volleyball team.

In the fall, Hailey will attend the Sage College of Albany to study Interior Design.

Jenna MuckleJenna Muckle

Jenna is the daughter of Richard and Kendra Muckle of Cropseyville. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Jenna has been the recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, Advanced Placement Environmental Science Award, Choral Director’s Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence and the College of St. Rose Trustees Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of Band, Choralaires, Student Senate, Key Club, National Honor Society as well as President of Chorus.

In the fall, Jenna will attend the College of St. Rose to study Pre-Vet/Pre-Med.

Alexa PhillipsAlexa Phillips

Alexa is the daughter of Leslie and Mark Phillips of the town of Brunswick. She will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.

Alexa has been the recipient of the RIT Computing Medal Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Triumph Yearbook Award and the Hartwick College Founders Award/Kellogg Scholarship. In addition to excelling in academics, she has been a member of Yearbook, Key Club, National Honor Society as well as Captain of the Varsity Volleyball team.

In the fall, Alexa will attend Hartwick College to study Biology/Pre-Dental.

Shen-Li Pomposello

 

Shen Li Pomposello

Shen-Li is the son of Steven and Teresa Pomposello of Clifton Park. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, with Honors.

Shen-Li has been the recipient of the Xerox Award, The President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence and the Ithaca College Ithaca Tuition Scholarship Award. In addition to excelling in academics, he has been a member of Band, Key Club, Yearbook, Choralaires, National Honor Society, as well as a cast member in school plays and musicals.

In the fall, he will attend Ithaca College to study Television-Radio.

Aidan Sullivan

Aidan is the son of John and Holly Sullivan of Wynantskill. He will graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.

Aidan has been the recipient of The President’s Award for Educational Excellence. He has been a member of Band, Jazz Band and a competitive bowler outside of school.

In the fall, Aidan will attend Hudson Valley Community College for Individual Studies.
