High School Students to Attend Sexual Assault Awareness Training

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of our continuing efforts to raise awareness of real-life issues among our students, we will be having a Sexual Assault Awareness training for all High School students on Tuesday, April 16th.  All High School girls will attend the training 2nd period and all High School boys will receive the training 4th period.

The programming that will take place will be based around the topic of Sexual Assault Awareness in honor of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The program will be run by trained Unity House of Troy employees from the Domestic Violence Program, as well as Troy Law Enforcement Officers. The topics that will be discussed are: consent, what is sexual assault, sexting, use of technology to harass peers or an intimate partner, and the intersection of sexual assault and teen dating violence. There will be two Unity House of Troy therapists present for emotional support to the students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
