Meet Mackenzie Cavotta – Kindergarten Teacher

Mackenzie Cavotta in the classroomWhat is your education background?

I am a 2005 Columbia High School graduate.  After graduating high school, I moved on to receive my bachelors in Early Childhood Education from The College of Saint Rose.  I received my dual Master’s degree in Childhood Education and Literacy from Sage Graduate School.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

Throughout undergrad as well as graduate school, I worked for four years as a substitute teacher with East Greenbush Central Schools.  I decided to leave substitute teaching for a position as a pre-kindergarten teacher at a private school in Clifton Park.  I joined the Tamarac family in the fall of 2016 as a teaching assistant.  I was fortunate enough to teach a first-grade maternity leave the second half of the year.  I am beyond thrilled to finally be living out my dream every single day teaching kindergarten! I am so happy to be here!

Tell us about your family.

Currently, I live in Mechanicville with my husband, Craig, and our daughter Skylar.  I love doing new things with my daughter and watching her learn and grow!  She has just started gymnastics classes! She keeps me busy and always brightens our day!

What are your interests outside of school?

I love spending time with family.  We have Sunday dinner every week with my in-laws and have dinner once a week with my parents!  I love the fact that Skylar has two amazing sets of grandparents to spend time with! We also love our weekend Target trips and going on new adventures!
