Students Brighten Valentine’s Day for Class

Three 7th grade students decided to brighten the day for every member of their class.  They decided to leave positive messages and a chocolate kiss on every classmate’s locker for Valentine’s Day.

Julianna Maxfield, Cailyn Hayden, and Jenna Lackey worked after school and at lunch to cut out and decorate more than 100 pink and red hearts.  They taped the hearts and kisses on lockers, making sure that the surprise was kept secret until the morning of Valentine’s Day.  According to Julianna, they wanted people to feel “happy” and “loved” because Valentine’s Day is sometimes “a day not everyone feels it.”Valentines with messages

The girls came up with the idea because, “We don’t want people to feel sad or lonely on a day like this,” said Cailyn.  “We want to make someone’s day and make them happy.”  Then Jenna added, “We thought people could use a pick-me-up. We wanted to make people smile.”

Julianna, Cailyn, and Jenna succeeded.  The students loved and appreciated their individual positive messages and inspirational quotes.
