Students Writing to Make Wishes Come True

Luke Hoag speaking to studentsLuke Hoag, a sixth grader at Hoosick Falls Central School, spoke to Tamarac Middle School students at an assembly on Monday about his mission to collect letters for the Macy’s Believe Campaign.

Hoag was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at 16 months old. When he was 3, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish by sending him to Walt Disney World. Four years ago, he decided to raise money for the Foundation through the Macy’s Believe Campaign so other children could get their wish like he did.

With the yearly campaign, Macy’s donates one dollar per letter to Make- A-Wish. On one day, Believe Day, that amount is doubled to two dollars per letter. In 2017, he delivered 65,000 letters and this year he is aiming for even more.

To help Hoag, Tamarac Middle School will be collecting letters. Students can drop letters off in the school lobby. Also, one of Hoag’s goal this year it to get a letter from every state. Letters can be mailed to:
