Congratulations to Tamarac’s own Mrs. Patricia Maloney on being awarded the Capital District Counseling Association’s “Counselor of the Year” award last Wednesday during a celebration at the Renaissance Albany Hotel.

Maloney has been a school counselor for 29 years. The Counselor of the Year award recognizes a counselor who provides important support to students addressing their academic and social/emotional development and college and career readiness needs.

“As school counselor, you find yourself wearing many hats on any given day. You could be a motivator, consoler, strategist, coordinator and a calm, positive voice of logic and reason for students,” said Maloney. “I have had the opportunity to work in collaboration with many energetic, caring professionals working towards this common goal of encouraging students to persevere and to keep moving forward in these times that are less than certain.”

Tamarac Class of 2010 alum, and CDCA President Lindsay King presented Maloney with her award at the CASDA Awards program. Congratulations!
