Students Raise Money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Tamarac senior raised moneyThe Leukemia and Lymphoma Society received $500 to help its efforts to find a cure and help improve the quality of life of patients and families thanks to the efforts of Tamarac students.

The varsity and JV girls basketball teams and cheerleaders organized a fundraiser at the basketball game against Hoosick Falls. Students wore green and purple shoelaces, shirts and hair bows as they raised $500 for the organization through raffles and donations.

“This is a cause that is near and dear to us here at Tamarac and on behalf of the players, coaches and cheerleaders, it was a pleasure to ‘Lace up for Lymphoma’ and support this great organization. I continue to be impressed with this community and how they rally to support those in need,” said head coach Eric Medved.

“I want to thank everyone who came out to support the cause. We were able to raise $500 thanks to our outstanding community support,” said senior captain Chelsie Matala.

“It’s an honor being selected as Girl of the Year by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and it’s an even bigger honor being able to donate money to the men and women running for this year’s Man and Women of the Year that was raised by my community!,” said senior Rachael Murray.

Congratulations on a great job!
