Please see the following Updated Mask Policy for this school year. We appreciate your support and patience as we continue to navigate our reopening with guidance from our local health officials.

Classrooms:

Students and adults will wear masks when moving into, out of, and within the classroom.

Teachers will direct students when it is acceptable to take a mask break.

This will occur when all students are safely seated at their desks.

This will happen so that mask breaks will occur for students throughout the class period amounting to minimally 20% (12 minutes) per hour and up to 50% (30 minutes) per hour. Physical education and instrumental music (wind instruments) classes when appropriate physical distancing (12 feet) is occurring may have longer periods of mask breaks.

Teachers will be expected to establish equitable processes for mask breaks during each class period.

When possible, mask breaks can be alternating rows of students.

Lunch Rooms:

Students and adults will wear masks when moving into, out of, and within the cafeteria.

Students must wear masks in the foodservice line.

Students may take their masks off to eat when seated.

School Bus:

All riders will wear masks at all times.

Instruction for mask-wearing:

Teachers will utilize time during the first days of instruction to model and have students demonstrate the proper way to put on, take off, and wear a face-covering/mask.

Principals in the middle and high schools will determine which classes training will be done in.

Modeling and instruction will occur at intervals throughout the year.

Any student new to the district or a student who transitions from remote to in-person will be provided with mask-wearing training.

Signage will be visible throughout the buildings.

PLEASE NOTE: With this new guidance and updated policy, we understand if you have many questions. Please be sure to reach out to our COVID-19 Hotline, covidhotline@brunswickcsd.org, with your questions or concerns. You can also still choose to opt your student into our fully remote learning program. Please reach out to your building principal directly (Richard Pogue for Elementary at rpogue@brunswickcsd.org; Ken Rizzo for Secondary at krizzo@brunswickcsd.org) or email our COVID-19 Hotline directly to make this change.

Thank you!
