COVID Alert

December 19, 2020

Brunswick CSD Community,

I am writing to inform you that I have made a decision to pivot our District students, K-12, to fully remote for this short week before the holidays.

I'm sure this decision will not be popular, but I can assure you that these important decisions are not made lightly.  In weighing out the pros and cons of keeping in person instruction, safety of students and staff was top priority. Another factor that was taken into consideration was staffing.  When in doubt, I must always err on the side of caution to keep our students and staff safe.

I ask for your understanding in this decision. My goal is to keep up as safe as possible going into the holidays while providing the highest quality instruction.  I assure you that we will make every effort to celebrate our Tamarac traditions so that our students continue to have a memorable experience.

We have and will continue to work very hard on keeping our schools open to in person learning.  We need your help with following protocols.  As we enter into holiday recess, remaining vigilant with mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing will help stop this community spread, which directly impacts our school district.  I am hoping that this recess does not bring the uptick in local cases like was experienced post Thanksgiving.

Anyone with questions and/or who needs to report a COVID-19 related health issue should contact the District’s COVID-19 resource person via the dedicated email addresses COVIDhotline@brunswickcsd.org and COVIDreporting@brunswickcsd.org.

We must all work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.  We will get through this, together.

Stay healthy,

Dr. Angelina Maloney

Superintendent
