Dear Secondary School Families:

Happy Superbowl weekend! If you are not a Chiefs or Tom Brady fan (I guess the second part is not technically a team) and you won’t be watching the game, I hope you get outside and enjoy the sunshine and moderating temperatures. I was raised in a Big Blue household with three brothers who were passionate about sports. Hopefully we get some entertaining commercials on Sunday!

We are moving into our third week of the quarter 3 here at the Secondary School. With remote and hybrid learning, our greatest challenge is ensuring that every one of our students is attending school and keeping up with their academics. Phone calls, emails, letters, parent conferences and even home visits are just a few of the strategies that we use to connect with families and help our students stay on track. I share this as an invitation to parents - please do not hesitate to reach out if you need support at home. We are more than happy to schedule a home visit and meet with your child. Together we can create a plan to keep this year on track! A reminder that later this quarter there will be one more window of opportunity for students to switch to the hybrid model of learning for the last ten weeks of the school year. The tentative plan for the fall is for all students to return to in-person learning - we want to ensure that every student is prepared and able to take the next step.

Senior Spotlight:  We are looking to highlight students in the Class of 2021. If you have a senior at home, please have them complete the following form and submit a photo to communications@brunswickcsd.org to be featured on our website and social media pages.

Free Tutoring: A reminder that RPI students are offering free “virtual” tutoring every Saturday until May 1 for all Brunswick students.. This is a tremendous opportunity to consider if your child is behind and needs additional support.

Health/Wellness: **IMPORTANT** Please be sure to complete the daily screening survey before sending your child to school each morning. Your child should be kept home if they are experiencing any symptoms consistent with COVID. If your child’s symptoms are improving AND they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicine, they may return to school with a note from their doctor with an alternate diagnosis clearing them to return to school OR a copy of their negative COVID test result. We appreciate your help in keeping our school safe for everyone!

Weekly Calendar:

Monday 2/8: BLUE COHORT  Tuesday 2/9: RED COHORT  Wednesday 2/10: WHITE COHORT   Thursday 2/11: BLUE COHORT  Friday 2/12 RED COHORT

On behalf of the entire staff, I want to conclude by expressing our deepest gratitude to the PTSA and our community for the delicious SOUPer Bowl lunch today. Your very touching words of support were greatly appreciated, particularly at this time. Mr. White and I feel very fortunate to be able to work alongside this dedicated team of teachers, teacher assistants, nurses, counselors, administrative assistants, cafeteria staff, bus drivers, and custodians!

Have a relaxing and healthy weekend! #TamaracStrong

Sincerely,

Ken Rizzo
