Brunswick eNews: Message from Elementary Principal, Mr. Pogue

To the students, parents, grownups, faculty, staff and community of Tamarac Elementary School:

Please excuse the informal nature of this newsletter – working from home doesn’t give me the same access to programs I have in the office.  I hope this letter finds you well and coping with these unprecedented times.  I wish I had a magic wand that would let me return us all to our normal routines and lives; unfortunately, the powers of a principal only go so far.  I do hope that you and your families are making the best of this situation, and that you are finding our teachers and school community to be a resource for you and your families.
I know that many teachers are reaching out in creative ways to see their students, share messages and encourage them to continue learning, and I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts.  We are doing our best to share information, resources, learning websites and anything that gives our students some sense of normalcy in this most unusual of times.  Dr. Maloney has been doing an incredible job of sharing information that she learns from Questar III, Rensselaer County, New York State Education and New York State, to keep us all as informed as possible – please check the district website for her updates, as well as the Facebook pages that many groups in our community maintain.  We don’t have the answer to the big question of when do we return to school, but please understand – we are still doing all we can to help our students and their families, and that will not change.  In the meantime, social distancing and good common sense hygiene will help keep us well.
If there is anything we can do to help your child or family at this time, please reach out to your child’s teacher or any of our faculty.  I will be accessible by email at or by text at (518) 376-9013.  Stay Tamarac Strong!
Richard Pogue
Principal, Tamarac Elementary School
