Weekly Update from Elementary Principal, Mr. Pogue: May 15, 2020

🚨🚨Attention Tamarac Elementary School Families🚨🚨 Please see the following weekly update from Elementary Principal, Mr. Pogue:

Dear families of Tamarac Elementary School,

The weather has finally gotten nice enough to allow me to sit on my porch and work outside today. One of the upsides of being home is the time that we have to be outside, or at least, look outside. Too often, we bounce from one grading cycle, school event, sport season or other priority this time of year and miss how wonderful spring can be. Usually at this time, we stop hoping for snow days, start rescheduling sports practices, and, boom, it feels like summer. It has been nice to have a real spring, snow in May included.
I’ve met with all the grade level teachers and most of the special area teachers within the past week to look at what we need to do as the school calendar year winds down. We are awaiting guidance and dates for how to do much of the end of the year things that conclude a school year. As soon as we know dates and protocols to follow, they will be shared. Additionally, we have posted for teaching vacancies created by retirements.
Instruction will continue through our multiple means, and I ask for your continued support to keep your child(ren) engaged. As the parent of a 1st and 4th grader, I have a sense of how demanding this has been, and I applaud everything you have done to support your child. I also applaud all of our school employees, all of whom have really stepped during this time. I have seen so much more communication between teaching colleagues, families, students and the community during the past two months. We will come out of this stronger, and more unified – a better Tamarac.
Please get outside (before it rains), it’s a wonderful morning.

Sincerely,

Rich Pogue
Principal, Tamarac Elementary School
