Brunswick eNews

Dear Secondary School Families:

Happy Friday Brunswick! We had a very smooth week with students back in the Secondary School - here’s to a healthy and happy November as we start to look ahead to the holidays and time with family.  The second quarter will begin on Monday, November 9 -  it will provide a fresh start and new opportunities. Looking ahead to next week, we will be conducting our annual Brittonkill Go Home Early Drill on Tuesday. The Secondary School will begin dismissal 15 minutes earlier than usual. We will begin dismissal and parent pickup at 1:50 pm on Tuesday, November 10. Wednesday school will be closed for Veterans Day. A big thank you to our soldiers - both past and present, for your service to our country!  Here are some important updates for the week ahead:

Quarter 1 Grades: With the end of the marking period upon us, you can expect to be able to view your child’s first quarter grades on the parent portal on Friday, November 13. Please review your child’s progress and please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers if you have any questions regarding areas in need of improvement, availability for support, etc...If your child is struggling and you would like to meet, our counselors are happy to schedule virtual conferences with teachers during team meeting time (grades 6-9).

Spirit Week!!!: Our Principal's Advisory Committee  (PAC) and our senior class advisors, Ms. Labshere and Ms. Frank have been working diligently on organizing a revamped spirit week program that is inclusive of all students in our building. Thank you to the class of 2021 for your willingness to open this fun opportunity to everyone! Here is the schedule for spirit week which technically runs from 11/12-11/20 and includes three spirit days for our senior class! Attendance: A missed class or school day is a missed opportunity for your child to learn. Research shows that students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than those that do not have regular attendance. This year there are greater challenges than ever before in the area of attendance. Please help us by making sure your child is well-rested and ready to learn every morning at 7:30 a.m. This is especially important for our remote learners who have the same academic expectations and legal requirements and as their in-person peers. Together, we can take an important step toward student achievement!

Health/Wellness: **IMPORTANT** Please be sure to complete the daily screening survey before sending your child to school each morning. Your child should be kept home if they are experiencing any symptoms consistent with COVID. If your child’s symptoms are improving AND they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicine, they may return to school with a note from their doctor with an alternate diagnosis clearing them to return to school OR a copy of their negative COVID test result. We appreciate your help in keeping our school safe for everyone!
