To the families of Tamarac Elementary School,

I hope this message finds you well. Returning to school after a break is a mix of emotions, but this return was highlighted by relief from our mask mandates. It has been wonderful to see so many smiles - I didn't know how much I had missed them on our student's faces.

We have a busy week coming up. Next Tuesday is Crazy Hair Day - don't forget the hair gel and the Aqua-Net (if that is still a thing ☺). On Thursday, we will have an assembly featuring Jared Campbell, a singer/songwriter who brings a character education message with his performance. We will have two presentations - PreK-2 grades and then 3-5 grades; both assemblies will be held in the district auditorium in the Secondary School. Finally, Friday is a 1/2 day for our building to allow for teacher professional development in the afternoon. Dismissal will begin at 11:25am, with the buses rolling out by 11:40am.

For those of you with cabin fever, this year's high school in-person, (hopefully) mask-free production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's musical Cinderella, will be presented on March 25th and 26th in the district auditorium. Shows begin at 7pm, and tickets are available at https://tamarac-musical.ticketleap.com/rogers--hammersteins-cinderella/ .  I've always found these shows to be very entertaining and a wonderful showcase for our very talented students. Make sure to get your tickets early - these performances almost always sell out.

Later this month we will have our New York State English Language Arts (ELA) for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. NYS Math tests for the same grades will take place near the end of April. Enjoy this weekend, and those to come; Spring is one of the perks of New York State.

Sincerely, Kelly Onorato and Rich Pogue
