SCHOOL DISTRICT RESTORES FULL FUNDING FOR ANNUAL SCHOOL MUSICAL
BRUNSWICK, NY — September 29, 2026 — Following discussions at a recent Board of Education meeting regarding financial support for the annual school musical, district leadership has confirmed that full funding for the production has been restored.
Initial reports suggested that students would need to establish a dedicated theater club and conduct fundraising campaigns to cover all production costs—ranging from performance rights and scripts to costumes, sets, and technical equipment.
Recognizing the vital role the performing arts play in student development and community engagement, the Board of Education worked closely with Acting Superintendent Ken Facin to preserve resources within the district budget. Thanks to these collaborative efforts, the school district will once again fully fund all aspects of the musical, relieving students and their families of the burden to fundraise for the show to go on.
"On behalf of the Brunswick Board of Education, I am thrilled to confirm that the district will be able to fund the School Musical again this year," said Ryan Goodenough, Board of Education President. "As passionate supporters of the arts, we recognize the positive impact a school production has on our students, parents, and community at large. The District will continue to evaluate funding requirements per New York State guidance, but in absence of a clear mandate, we will fund the production as outlined in our annual budget and approved by our voters."

We are thrilled to ensure our school musical receives the funding and resources necessary to thrive without burdening our students with fundraising."

With funding secured, rehearsals and preparations for the upcoming production will proceed as scheduled. Further details regarding audition dates, show titles, and performance schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.
