Run for Women

The Freihofer’s® Run for Women is announcing a poster contest to help celebrate its 45th year. Usually, event organizers develop a poster to celebrate each fifth year anniversary, but this year, they’ve decided to invite all middle and high school aged students in private or public school, including those who are homeschooled, to create a work of art for entry. The contest runs from now until April 21st.

“The Freihofer’s Run for Women is a community event, so with the continuation of the tradition of creating a poster for our 45th anniversary, we decided to involve the community,” said Kisten Hislop, Event Director. “Kids participate in their events on race day, but we want to capture their vision of the 5K event. It will be amazing to see this iconic event through the eyes of the area’s youth.”

Freihofer’s run for Women is partnering with the Arts Center of the Capital Region, who will be offering a $500 prize to the winner. Together the two organizations will compile a panel of judges to review what will be truly amazing interpretations of the 45th Freihofer’s Run for Women.

Posters must be original artwork of the student, on or mounted on poster board, and created using any medium. However, posters cannot use text or images taken from newspapers, magazines, downloaded from the Internet, or other sources to form a collage, as this would not fit within the “original art” rules of the contest. Students can use materials such as fabric, aluminum foil, yarn or other materials as part of a collage, as long as these materials are accompanied by original artwork by the student.

Posters may also be created or enhanced digitally, but must begin as an entirely original work of art by the student, and printed to the required size for submission.

Posters may be any size between the minimum dimension of 16” x 20” to a maximum dimension of 22" x 28", and must be produced individually, and not in collaboration with other students. Students may submit only one poster into the competition.

Post Entry Form must be adhered to the back of the poster and submitted with each entry. Submissions must be delivered to Overit, 435 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208 no later than April 21, 2023. Overit will be able to accept submissions Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day.

Any questions regarding the submission process may be directed to runninginfo@freihofersrun.com. Full rules and regulations may be found here
