Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Larissa Fremont as the new Director of Special Education.
Larissa was most recently Director of Special Education at Hoosic Valley Central School District. Before becoming Director, she was the district's Intervention Coordinator from and a speech-language pathologist from September 2012 to June 2022. She also worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Guilderland CSD.
Fremont's qualifications include a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and professional licenses as a Speech-Language Pathologist and in Speech and Language Disabilities from New York State.
Her educational background includes a CAS in Educational Leadership from SUNY at Plattsburgh, an M.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from The College of St. Rose, and a B.S. in Human Development from Binghamton University.
Throughout her career, Fremont has gained experience in:
Administrative Leadership: Overseeing special education and related services, including CSE/CPSE and 504 committees. She ensures the school district complies with special education laws and regulations.
Instructional Leadership: Conducting classroom observations, organizing professional development for staff, and coordinating the district's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process.
Intervention Coordination: Assisting with the development of a district-wide MTSS framework, leading data team meetings, and creating intervention plans for students.
Speech-Language Pathology: Providing therapy to students across all grade levels, conducting student evaluations, and collaborating with teachers and parents to implement effective interventions.
Fremont possesses skills in communication, advocacy, and collaboration with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. She has experience leading a variety of meetings, such as Committee on Special Education, 504, Student Support Team, and Multi-Tiered System of Support Meetings. She is dedicated to advocating for the rights and needs of children with disabilities to ensure they receive a quality education.
