To the families of Tamarac Elementary School,

I hope this update finds you well.  New York State math testing took place this week in grades 3-5.  Our students worked very hard and the testing process went smoothly. Great job to these kiddos; the effort they put into these assessments was outstanding. We are very proud of them.

Our district will be administering a district wide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey to students this month. This survey will provide important feedback directly from students on their perceptions related to teaching and learning at school. At the elementary level, we will be administering the survey to students in grades 3 through 5, only using Panorama. To learn more about Panorama visit (www.panoramaed.com). Parent notification on this survey and an opt-out form will be sent home with 3rd through 5th grade students next week.

Next Saturday, May 7th will be our Red, White and Gold Day. This will be a day filled with baseball, softball, food, fun, and raising awareness and money for pediatric cancer. All monies raised are donated to Go4theGoal. These activities are open to everyone in our school community. As a build up to this day, we encourage all students, faculty and staff to wear gold to school on Friday, May 6th to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.

Finally, we are excited to share that Tamarac 3rd grader, Blake Werger, was invited to be a part of Albany Medical Center's Children's Hospital radiothon this year. He will be interviewed on Thursday 5/5 at 10am. His interview will be broadcasted live on WGY 103.1 and B95.5.  Please tune in! We are very proud of Blake for being an ambassador for such a great cause.

Let's hope the winds die down a little this weekend, and we can finally put the winter clothing away!

Sincerely, Kelly Onorato and Rich Pogue
