The Brunswick School District is excited to introduce a designated WBL classroom space this school year for our high school students seeking to earn a diploma through a CDOS or SACC pathway! Work-Based Learning, or WBL, is a term used to identify activities which collaboratively engage employers and schools in providing structured learning experiences for students. These experiences focus on assisting students develop broad, transferable skills for postsecondary education and the workplace.
The WBL Program makes school-based learning more relevant by providing students with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to real world situations. These in-classroom skills can include, but are not limited to, personal presentation and work appropriate behavior, resume development, interviewing skills, and time management. The framework of a New York State WBL program focuses on career awareness, career exploration, and career development based on an individual student’s interests and skill levels. For example, students may have the opportunity to job shadow or participate in a school-based enterprise, community service, on-site project, or community-based work program in conjunction with developing career readiness skills in the classroom.
Stop in to visit or feel free to contact Jodi Hogsberg, Director of Special Education at 518-279-4600 x2403 or Sherry Bowman in the WBL Room at x1410 for more information!

We are still in Summer Mode a little longer! The American Red Cross Babysitter Certification Summer Program was a huge success!
Mrs. Gelina and Mrs. Johnston would like to congratulate the students that participated and received their certification. Students were able to learn positive decision making skills, basic personal safety, conflict resolution and more. They were instructed in basic first aid, hands on CPR, choking protocol, and proper AED use. Congratulations on passing this course and completing your certification!
