Early Intervention (EI) to Preschool Special Education (CPSE) Transition Training for Families presented by the NYSED Office of Special Education

July 15th, 9:00 - 10:30 am on Zoom

This presentation will guide families through the process of transitioning their child from Early Intervention(EI) to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). Families will understand the differences between Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education services and their important role in the transition process. Participants will learn about:-the role of the Early Intervention Program and the Committee on Preschool Special Education as it relates to the transition process

- what to expect in the transition process
- timelines and vocabulary
- the role of the family/guardian, the provider(s), the County and the CPSE
- the importance of collaboration and communication throughout the process

This training is targeted for parents of young children; however special education administrators, CPSE Chairpersons, preschool special education evaluators, special education and general education teachers, early childhood professionals, related services professionals, municipality representatives, agency/community service providers or case managers and Early Intervention Service Coordinators are always welcome!

During the Brunswick CSD Board of Education meeting on June 30, 2026, Superintendent Dr. Angelina Maloney was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into complaints alleging violations of Board policy. Due to this being a personnel matter, the District is unable to provide additional information at this time. Questar III BOCES Superintendent Dr. Gladys I. Cruz will serve as Acting Superintendent during Dr. Maloney’s leave.

There will be a special board meeting this evening in the Secondary School LGI at 7 p.m.

As promised, the last of the Top Ten Seniors to spotlight: Bryan Wiley!

Bryan is the son of Lesley and Bryan Wiley of Brunswick. In addition to excelling in academics, Bryan was the treasurer of the Class of 2026, the President of the Key Club, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, Student Senate, High School Yearbook, Vice-President of SADD, YAC and Filming JV & Varsity Basketball games.

In the fall, he will be attending Siena University where he will major in Finance and minor in Political Science. Congratulations! #Classof2026

Andrew is the son of Kevin and Amy Shufon of Brunswick. In addition to excelling in academics, Andrew has played baseball, varsity basketball, unified basketball and cross country. In the fall, he will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and will study Aerospace engineering. Congratulations! #Classof2026

Gianna is the daughter of Aaron and Kesa Shea of Troy. In addition to excelling in academics, Gianna has been involved in SADD, Key Club, Ski Club, National Honor Society, Class Council and Choir Council. She has also played volleyball and track & field. Members of the Spanish 5 class were surveyed about what experiences, opportunities, and items they are grateful to have been provided in their years at Tamarac.
