Fifth graders learned about the causes and effects of earthquakes, along with some strategies to build “quake-safe” buildings. They were then tasked with creating a construction company to build a skyscraper that could withstand a 20-second mock earthquake, with limited materials. A special shout out to the Secondary building for letting us test our structures in their air conditioned cafeteria!

Due to the forecasted extreme temperatures, Brunswick Central School District will follow a half-day dismissal schedule on Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24 for all students in grades PK–8. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff. Middle school dismissal will be at 10:30. Elementary half day dismissal begins at approximately 11:20 AM with all buses dismissed by 11:40 AM. There will be no child care offered. Please contact GCC with any questions. High school students will only report if they have an exam. Please note that Regents exams will proceed as scheduled. Students scheduled to take these exams should arrive on time and will be accommodated in cool spaces. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this unusual weather. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school office. Stay cool and safe
