Looking forward to next week's District Wide Art Show!

Local first responders and members of Tamarac's SADD club will conduct a mock crash event at Tamarac High School on Friday, May 19th at 8:45 a.m. to remind students and parents about how making the right choice behind the wheel can protect themselves and others from dangerous driving behaviors.
Brunswick Brittonkill Central School District is using the event to remind parents/guardians about the importance of talking with their teens to reinforce teen driving laws, and to set their own family driving rules to protect them from being injured or killed in a crash. The mock crash will take place in the morning of Tamarac's junior and senior prom.
The mock crash uses real crashed vehicles set up on school grounds and student participants to act out roles as crash victims. Set up for the event will begin the day prior. The school’s juniors and seniors will watch the demonstration and learn how emergency responders conduct rescue efforts in real-time.
Elementary School Parents/Guardians: Please note this is taking place around morning drop off time but will take place in the far parking lot of the Secondary School.

Six 5th grade students were recognized on May 8th for the 37th Annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Award. The program took place at Hudson Valley Community College and was put on by the Capital Zone chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD). Hundreds of students were chosen from over thirty school districts and twelve counties were recognized. Physical Education teachers Dan Pryde and Erick Roadcap selected students Aubrey LeMay, Adeline Haskins, Charlotte Hoffman, Braedan Morrissey, Mason Morrissey, and Kais Horton as the honorees. These students have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship, and a desire to learn and improve. They also have exhibited a physically active lifestyle, demonstrated leadership and have been a positive influence on peers, while contributing toward the total school program. Congratulations to all students!

Starting off 'Teacher' Appreciation Week by recognizing some of our new tenured faculty and staff and by saying thank you to a few who are ready to retire. These photos were taken at our most recent Board of Education meeting. #ThankYou

Mrs. Allin and Miss Casey’s class are studying countries around the world, and this week we focused on Mexico in honor of Cinco de Mayo! Today we made guacamole and went on a virtual field trip to Puebla, Mexico. Students also listened to some mariachi music!

We want to let our families know that Tamarac Secondary held a scheduled lockdown drill with the assistance of law enforcement today, Thursday, May 4th. The drill was completely precautionary and provided us with an opportunity to practice keeping our students and staff safe in the event of an emergency.

Mrs. Farley's class has been working hard to fill their compliment jar! Every time they receive a compliment from another teacher or staff member, or the entire class is showing they are engaged and participating, they get a cotton ball. The class filled their jar for the first time and earned a special celebration! They got to have a pajama day, watch a movie and have a special treat!!!

We welcome back our students, faculty and staff tomorrow and hope you all had a wonderful and restful Spring Break! Plug those Chromebooks in so they will be ready to go! Tomorrow is a C day.
