The Secondary School conducted its third required lock down drill of the school year. The drill was conducted in collaboration with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and Troy Police Departments. It was held near the end of period seven lunches in order to provide a learning opportunity for students and staff. A commendable job was done by all.

Mrs. McKenna's high school Russian students visited Mrs. Willimott's 4th grade class to teach them about Russian Christmas which was on January 7. They colored Russian ornaments - traditional Matryoshka dolls. They also brought over some cards made by Mrs. McKenna’s students with words of encouragement for the fourth graders.

Key Club is hosting a blood drive with The American Red Cross on Thursday, February 1st from 7:30-12:30 in the multipurpose gym. Students that are 16 must pick up a permission slip from me to be signed by their parents in order to donate. Anyone 17 and older can register to donate and do not need a permission slip. Power has been restored at school and we will operate under a two hour delay schedule today.

Brunswick CSD will operate on a two hour delay today, January 10 as our district is currently without power. We will have an update by 7 a.m. should further action need to be taken.

All after school activities are cancelled today due to the expected inclement weather. This includes games and practices.


There was a minor weather related bus accident this morning on bus 133 - Route 11 for the Secondary School run. The students have arrived safely to school and no injuries were reported.

A message from the Health Office: If your student is sick (cough, fever, runny nose, etc) PLEASE keep them home. If they come to the Health Office we are required to send them home.

A reminder that Brunswick Central School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Classes and transportation will resume on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 which will be a F day.

A presentation by Broadview, "How do I pay for that? Understanding checking accounts, credit cards and cash" was given to Mr. Olson's class recently. Participants explored the key differences and appropriate uses of debit cards, credit cards, digital payment options and cash. They also learned to identify the components and uses of a personal check and check register, the benefits of a checking account, savings account and certificate of deposit.
