Lockers & Study Halls & Bells, Oh My! Last week our 5th grade students received a tour of the Secondary School as they gear up to become 6th graders. Thank you to our members of the National Junior Honor Society who were tour guides! (It was great to see older siblings tour their younger siblings!)

It is with great pride that Camp H and R presents their “LUNAR NEWS” Project. The students were required to create a newspaper that was “Moon” themed. This activity was a cross curricular challenge intertwined with science and language arts. In science, they studied the moon and how it relates to earth. In Language Arts, through the Ready Gen reading and writing program, students read all about astronauts, specifically the lesser known Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, and learned about many aspects of our universe in, “Our Mysterious Universe”. They also read several science fiction stories which were set in space. Camp H and R used research and technology skills to complete these newspapers. They used this interdisciplinary, culminating assignment to display our moon and space knowledge and had fun! Special thanks to Mrs. Tybush for the use of her art supplies and art expertise!

The Brunswick Central School District is aware of press reports that New York State may be relaxing mask rules for students and staff in schools. However, at this time, we have not received any guidance from the NYS Department of Health regarding this change. Once we receive updated guidance, as in all other instances, we will review it and consider any potential changes to current COVID-19 protocols.

Each year, the fourth grade celebrates the month of June and the close of the school year with fun activities. Take a peek here (and check back!): https://www.brunswickcsd.org/o/es/page/4th-grade-june-fun-days

Ms. Mongelluzzo's class celebrated Disney Day this week! Students wore their favorite Disney apparel, went on some rides, and even took a class picture in front of the castle!

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month. The speech-language pathologists focused on ways to promote vocal hygiene and protect hearing. Teaching is the occupation at the highest level of risk for developing a voice disorder. Staying hydrated is important in order to protect your voice, so the SLPs provided the teachers and staff with some extra hydration as a reminder to drink up.

A reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 28th through Monday, May 31st. Classes will resume on Tuesday, June 1st which will be a B Day (Blue Cohort). Have a safe and restful Memorial Day Weekend.

Mark your calendar! Chromebook Return Dates: Please bring your Chromebook to the appropriate school lobby on the return dates during the specific times. Don't forget to bring the charger! Please direct any questions to Anthony Denovellis at adenovellis@brunswickcsd.org
